BLUE BLOSSOM is a child-centred, developmentally appropriate, integrated, learning program for children between the ages of eighteen months and five years.
The purpose of the program is to establish a strong foundation for learning in the early years, and to do so in a safe and caring play-based environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of the child.
We believe in an inclusive approach to teaching. For this reason, at Blue Blossom, parents have access to a user-friendly mobile app to stay connected for regular updates on school activities as well as send in inquiries or suggestions.
We believe that experience and discovery help children develop socially, emotionally, mentally and physically. Our focus on creative play, maths, language and science allows your kids to think independently and grow!
Monica Lakhiani (founder and principal) is a certified Montessori teacher trained in the United Kingdom with a BSc. in Psychology.
Monica has over ten years’ experience teaching in the United Kingdom as well as Ghana and Nigeria. She also has first-hand experience on the transformative nature of practising the Montessori system in early education.
As proprietor and head-teacher at Blue Blossom, Monica leads with a hands-on approach in providing quality lessons for our pupils. She ensures that all teachers stay interactive, intuitive and a 100% committed.
Our selection process for staff is nothing short of rigorous. We ensure that our team is comprised of teachers who are highly qualified with the required confidence to take on a hands-on approach with all our young children.
Children eligible to attend Blue Blossom Nursery must:
The classes are free to flow, thus enabling each child to choose which classroom they wish to play in, and to make use of all the activities on offer. This improves social skills, comfort and experience.
We encourage our children to express themselves freely, during learning or playing activities. When undertaking a piece of work, the child will choose the resources they would like to use, e.g. puzzles, paints, blocks, etc. This enables the child to be creative and explore media and materials.
At the nursery, we ensure all toys and equipment are accessible at all times. The children are encouraged to tidy away and choose new resources at will. This develops independence and self-confidence.
At the blue blossom nursery, we carry out Risk Assessments of the building, garden and equipment once a year. Staff receive a letter explaining any risk we feel they need to be made aware of.
Senior staff also conduct a regime of weekly recorded (Visual) inspections of the garden and play equipment. The maintenance manager also undertakes a monthly, more detailed (Operational) inspection of all the equipment and furniture in the Nursery and the garden.
At Blue Blossom, we take Hygiene very seriously. Our staff members are trained and must read our Health and Safety folder, as well as the Safer Food Better Business Folder before starting work.
All staff of the nursery must refresh on the above-mentioned folders, annually, while training is re-done every three years. We insist on a germ-free environment and ensure that all staff and children wear rubber-soled shoes at all times.
We provide top quality, age-appropriate swimming lessons for all interested. We’ve incorporated swimming into our curriculum while still providing extra classes during our after-school sessions. We are pleased to say that Blue Blossom houses one of the few standardized pools in Ghana.
We believe that a different language is a different vision of life. We believe that offering our young ones an opportunity to learn french gives them a global perspective from a young age and a good start in an increasingly connected world.
We take education a notch higher with our music lessons. Our students have a wide selection of musical instruments to choose from including Guitar, Recorder and Piano. All music classes are offered as part of our after-school program.
